very brief review of benq tk705i projector

i was going to buy a x3100i but the polish store i was ordering it from only had one in stock and they broke it so i took a gamble and ordered the new brand new tk705i instead and my opinion is more or less

it's okay it mostly works

the colors are okay
the dark scenes are not excellent but i didn't expect that especially since it's my first projector and my wall is cream yellow
the brightness is pretty nice
the gaming latency is good enough that i could play a little Trackmania on it

if you need it the motion smoothing setting is called "MEMC" it's in the expert settings and it seems you can even set it separately for gaming and non-gaming?

the android is slightly obnoxious and a few times the projector has restarted on me for no obvious reason

when i was setting it up it asked me to pick a sleepability mode (sorry don't remember what it was called) between power saving, balanced, and power consuming, but all the options said they would be enabling "[insert feature 1]" and "[insert feature 2]" so it is lacking a bit of polish, i mean, english

also when i plugged the hdmi cable into the projector first and then tried to plug it into my PC i'm pretty sure it zapped me and when i touched PC with it i saw sparks so be careful with that

it's nice to finally be able to use eARC of my somewhat expensive Denon AVR but
sometimes the projector understands that the AVR is off and doesn't try to send it sound
sometimes it just sends audio to the turned off AVR and that's a little annoying

i haven't figured out yet how to change inputs between HDMIs and Android with anything other than the remote. there seem to be no physical button for this (while there is one for most other things that count). i added the Android TV to Home Assistant but i don't see anything there. i downloaded the benq app dedicated for this projector but it can't find the projector and i don't really get it.

oh also i know someone online said you can use usb-c to connect your Nintendo Switch 1 but the Switch just says no and curiously my M2 Macbook Air also says no when i plug it into the usb-c. i don't know if i'm doing something wrong or the device is

in conclusion
i think it's pretty okay but i can't speak to the value for money because i lack comparison

next time on michi's blog: will she finally invest in a mattress or will she continue to break her back on a sofa (but with projector)
